Progetto Europeo BIOINNO - Bioinnovation and entrepreneurship: A Knowledge Alliance for biotech entrepreneurship education.

Knowledge Alliances (KA) work towards the successful use of research-based knowledge in stimulating innovation and technology transfer. BIOINNO is structured to play a full part in the KA triangle (education, research, innovation) focusing on reinforced cooperation between industry and academia all over Europe.
By creating new multidisciplinary curricula, BIOINNO will help to actively promote innovative, knowledge-based solutions in education as well as developing entrepreneurial skills such as real-time problem solving, creative thinking and leadership. Importantly, BIOINNO will ultimately set the stage to establish new university-industry alliances by tuning in to the biotech industry needs.
BIOINNO entrepreneurship education in biotechnology combines scientific insight and innovation with a toolkit for management and leadership. This combination allows students to understand the scientific process and its challenges and at the same time to obtain the training that will enable them to facilitate the optimal translation of research from mind to market.
BIOINNO refers also to an “educational environment, where students, faculty and industry jointly nurture novel biotechnologies from concept to marketplace realization”.
Our key to success is the establishment of an open system in which competent partners with diverse science, business and teaching backgrounds combine their complementary expertise to help inspire and nurture an entrepreneurial culture that is accepted across the entire European Union and create technological innovations that lead to successful technology transfer ventures.
The results of BIOINNO project will be an innovative model for teaching entrepreneurship in the biotechnology sector, training and networking modules and the entrepreneur’s guide to a biotech start up. Moreover, after the project ends, the partnership will develop a unique product, “The Entrepreneur’s Academy to a Biotech Start up”, which will be an invaluable aid not only to biotech entrepreneurs but also to non-entrepreneurs who posses experience in industry and are interested in learning how to start up a biotech company.
